May book selection

Thanks for the book recs--both the short ones and the wordy ones :) The shortest comments are the most useful to me right this instant, because (now that I've thought about it a little more) the issue with starting a book is kind of a decision paralysis thing (or at least that's what it feels like to me), and a short "read *this* one!" is the most helpful and encouraging message rather than presenting me with Even More Choices. But knowing about more books to consider in the future when this is easier for me is also good! Based on the number of people who mentioned it, I think May's book is going to be Graceling. (In future months I may make a poll based on my mental list of "books I've heard about that sound like I might like them".)
